Three shingle clad volumes spring triumphantly from the earth which are delicately connected by bridging elements allowing for passage between. These masses grow and multiply volumetrically creating a fragmented facade as they ascend reaching for a sunset view over the marsh. Shed roofs playfully dance above the careful composition of spaces opening towards the winding river and directing views through generous glazing at an everchanging natural landscape.

Dancing among the Live Oaks this generational retreat provides the perfect perch to watch wildlife of the lowcountry. Stained cedar siding allows the massing of the home to be one with the landscape while generous glazing diminishes the boundaries between the two. An imposing concrete tower, the centerpiece of the project, stands tall while the home radiates around it providing a man-made strength and gravitas in an otherwise natural and playful composition.

Seemingly in the natural landscape, the cascading pool reaches towards the edge of the low country's most prized possession. Amenities are nestled into the island's natural environment, wind blown oaks seep through the ground and glowing marsh grass surrounds users as they are left to escape from urban life. Natural tones of wood cover the facades and pool deck.  Organic lines move throughout the site as if to mirror the tones of the encompassing nature.

Natural tones of brown and green wrap the facades, picking from the palette found in the surrounding environment. Large windows and vertical lattice treatment allow for voids throughout the design. Once uncovered, steep angles and cantilevered volumes create an experience for the eye.

Emerging form from the bank of the surrounding marsh land this home is the ultimate communion of man and nature. Natural tones are used on the exterior facades, allowing volumes to blend into the natural landscape. The overhung roof resembles a tree, as the exaggerated corbel brackets act as limbs supporting the roof, acting as leaves for shelter.
